Canton Vaud is committing major funding to Lausanne’s metro network.
The Grand Council has approved over CHF 800m mainly to modernise the M2 line and boost capacity with new trains.
Funding has also been secured to push ahead with studies for the future M3 line, linking the station to Blécherette, with opening planned in the mid-2030s.
But tensions remain over a separate project,a proposed pedestrian tunnel between the station and Flon, which still faces further debate.
