Yesterday was one of the hottest days ever recorded in Geneva. Official measurements show a peak of 37.4 degrees.
It’s one of the top ten highest ever recorded – but didn’t beat last year’s record.
The University Hospital says it dealt with more elderly patients suffering with the heat.
They attended the accident and emergency unit. But the hospital says many turned to them for help as their regular doctor was on vacation.
But it wasn’t just humans suffering. The Geneva Ornithological Rehabilitation Center says it was overwhelmed by people bringing in birds that were suffering – especially young swifts which had fallen from their nests.
Many were placed back in their nests by the fire service.
