Greenpeace calls for more trains from Geneva

A study by the environmental group Greenpeace points out that train lines to the rest of Europe from Geneva are extremely limited compared to other cities.

It points out other cities have better connections, such as Vienna where 17 cities can be reached directly - 13 from Zurich, but only 4 from Geneva.

It also calls for night train services from Geneva, currently there are none - while 9 run from Zurich.

One of the reasons of the poor train links is because the airport has excellent European connections.

But Greenpeace says planes emit 5 times more CO2 than a train, over half of destinations served by the airport could have a train link that would take less than 8 hours.
