Graffiti artist dies after police chase

A graffiti artist has died in Bern after being chased by police on Saturday night. The 29-year-old woman leapt over a wall at Bümpliz train station and fell badly. She later died in hospital.

Newspaper reports say the victim was an arts teacher.

Her friends say it was unnecessary for the police to chase her – they could have caught up with her later. The fact someone has died for a minor offence is disproportionate, they say.

Police say they are investigating. Three other graffiti artists were arrested at the scene.
