The medicines regulator, Swissmedic, has given to go ahead for the Moderna vaccine to be given to adolescents aged over 12.
The decision was after trials of nearly 4,000 young people. Authorities say the reaction in younger people was the same as adults and is 93% effective.
There were some reports of side effects, lasting between 1 and 3 days – often worse after the second dose. Exactly the same as adults.
Swissmedic is already allowing the Pfizer vaccine to be used on those over 12.
