Glacier Express hits back at viral video

The world-famous Glacier Express is fighting back after two British social media influencers suggested instead of paying the high cost of the scenic train, take a normal train the same route for a fraction of the price.

They also complained the food on the Glacier Express was overpriced.

Their Instagram video has been seen more than 5 million times.

But the Glacier Express says their train is not much more than a normal train – you just have to pay for a seat reservation.

They also countered the claims on social media that the Glacier Express was overcrowded. They say they only sell the seats they have.

However, we checked for an example ticket on Friday 5th April for a ride between St Moritz and Zermatt.

On the Glacier Express it was CHF 159, but taking a regional train, without a half price abo, the cost was between CHF 44 and 54.

OK, you may have to stand.
