In an effort to increase shade, the City of Geneva has decided to change its policy on tree pruning.
In the past, trees have been cut to a uniform pattern – the so called ‘cat’s head’ shape.
Now trees will be allowed to grow bigger – although some pruning may be necessary at times to make sure the trunk can handle the new weight.
The plan is to have increase shade, especially along the lakeside, by as much as 250% by the year 2030.
