Medical researchers at the University of Geneva have won a prize for a new method of studying the regeneration of the auditory system without using live animals.
Francis Rousset and Pascal Senn have discovered how to use stem cells to generate auditory neurons which avoided the use of mice in experiments.
The university says the new method opens the way for a significant reduction in animal experiments in that field. They’ll receive CHF 5,000.
