Geneva police say there was no option but to shoot dead rogue deer

Authorities felt they had no choice but to shoot a deer which had found its way in to the middle of Geneva.

The animal was trapped in a cemetery in Chatelaine on Friday afternoon. Wildlife officers tried several times to dart the distressed animal – but they either missed or the tranquilizer failed to have an effect.

By the evening – with the light fading – the police determined it was too dangerous to allow the animal to roam within the city and the decision was made to kill it.

How it got so deep into the town is a mystery.
