Geneva police battled with Sion football fans around the stadium after Saturday’s match.
The running battles continued to the train station where innocent passengers, including families and children, complain they were affected by tear gas.
Police admitted they used the gas on the tracks in an effort to drive back violent fans, but they had no intention to target the trains.
They said the fans kept pulling the emergency brake which stopped the train from leaving.
Sion lost against Servette 5-nil.
