Geneva patient launches compliant after ovary removed

A Geneva patient has launched a complaint after she says a surgeon removed an ovary and her fallopian tubes without her consent.

The woman, aged in her fifties, was in a private clinic for a gallbladder operation in 2018.

She had already had one ovary removed 10 years before after a non-cancerous tumour was discovered.

A cyst had been detected on the other and she had agreed the surgeon would remove it if he could, but she claims she did not consent to the whole ovary or the tubes to be taken out.

The surgeon says he decided on removal, taking into account her age and her concerns over cancer.
