Geneva farmers feel French pain

Geneva farmers are complaining that the same issues that have angered their French colleagues are also happening to them.

French farmers say their business is being threatened by foreign competition, undue regulation and are not paid enough. They’re currently protesting by blocking main roads with tractors.

The umbrella organisation, AgriGenève, says that while Geneva farmers are not currently protesting – the same arguments also apply here.

The Geneva association says it gives French farmers its total support. It says many farmers in Switzerland are paid less than minimum wage and is demanding a 10% rise in prices.
