The streets of Geneva erupted with joy last night as Servette Hockey beat Biel 4-1 to take the Swiss Championship for the first time in the club’s history – they’ve been runner up 8 times.
There wasn’t enough space at the Les Vernets Ice rink – a fan zone had been set up outside and almost every bar in Geneva was showing the game on TV.
Servette player, Valtteri Filppula told the press that the team was confident as they’d had a strong run during the play-offs, only losing once. He also thanked the fans for a fantastic atmosphere.
