After nearly three years of work – the modernisation of the train station at Geneva airport has finished.
There are several practical changes – the platforms have been raised to make getting on trains easier, better sound proofing has been installed and the lifts and escalators have all been renovated.
The ceiling is an undulating white colour – designed to depict the Alps.
The lighting has also been improved, the information panels are new and the floors are brighter.
In all the cost of the improvements reached CHF 40m.
The station handles 17,000 people a day and is served by 10 trains an hour.
