Free hand sanitizer for Geneva transport users

Free hand sanitizer is being handed out to Geneva public transport users.

In a programme with local hospitals and the company Givaudan, 25,000 bottles will be available.

The timing is fortunate as shops are now open and more people are using public transport.

Viral specialist at the Geneva University Hospital, Professor Didier Pittet, says two thirds of infections are passed by hands.

Numbers using the buses and trams are still down from pre-pandemic days – by about 40%. It’s expected the requirement to work from home will continue to have an impact on travel.
