The Federal Court has sided with the Geneva government in a dispute over Sunday shopping before Christmas.
Unions SIT and UNIA had challenged the 2024 decision to let stores open on December 22, calling it illegal.
But Switzerland’s highest court ruled the opening lawful and confirmed the canton’s authority to decide.
The Cantonal Department of the Economy says the Sunday opening will allow shops to compete against cross border and online shoppers.
