Every police officer should have a taser

Taser

There are calls that every police officer in the country should be armed with a taser.

The President of the Association of Police Officers, Johanna Bundi Ryser says police need a method of intervention before their service weapon.
Tasers work by giving a large electric shock which debilitates a suspect.

There are concerns about the device. Amnesty International says it can cause serious injuries or even death with those who have a medical condition or under the effect of drugs.

The use of tasers is back in the public eye after Morges police shot dead a man in August at the train station who had been threatening them.

The Police Association says the death may have been avoidable if the officers had tasers.
