E-vignette sales soar

The new e-vignette has got off to a spectacular start.

Many clearly wanted to get one as soon as possible, more than 2,000 were sold in the first hour of operation, from midnight on Friday.

By the end of the day, 100,000 had been issued.

The Federal Customs Office, which oversees the vignette, is estimating around half of motorists will opt for the electronic version.

The sticker is still available, but it could be scrapped if sales of it drop below 10%.

The cost of the e-vignette or sticker is the same, 40 francs.

Only use the official website – e-vignette.ch. Never pay more than 40 francs. There are some scam sites around.
