E-foils to remain banned on lakes

It seems likely e-foils will remain banned on Swiss lakes.

The small surf-board like devices are fitted with an electric motor and when a certain speed is reached, they lift up on a hydrofoil.

A National Councillor from canton  Valais, Philippe Nantermod, says he’s asked the Federal Council for guidance on the new machines – and the message he’s got back is that they don’t want them.

The Federal Court ruled last year that a man using an e-foil on Lake Geneva was breaking the law.
