The retail chain Migros has failed to find a buyer for most of its DIY stores – Do it + Garden – so they will close at the end of June.
The company says it held talks with several potential purchasers, but a deal couldn’t be struck.
Two stores will be saved, the one in Carouge and the other in Nyon. They’re being picked up by the German company, OBI.
Migros says they will try to redeploy staff within other areas of the company and any warranty on products from Do It Garden will be honoured.
But it’s better news for the Micasa brand. That’s also being sold by Migros, but a management buyout team will keep the stores running and no jobs will be lost.
Migros is refashioning its activities on its core businesses. It’s already disposed of Melectronics, SportX, HotelPlan and Interhome.
