
Thousands of cyclists are expected to head for Lucerne next weekend for the Klausen Pass challenge – and a special exemption is being made for the famous road that hugs Lake Lucerne – the Axenstrasse.
Normally the Axenstrasse is closed to non-autoroute traffic as it forms part of the A4, but next Saturday - the 14th – the Federal Roads office is closing the picturesque route and allowing only cyclists.
The Klausen Monument is an annual cycling event up he famous pass, which is almost 2,000 meters high.
The pass will also be closed to cars for the day.
It will be a unique opportunity to enjoy one of the most famous routes in the country – free of cars.
