The latest numbers from the Finance Ministry are suggesting the cost of protecting the economy during the covid pandemic will be less than originally thought – by a billion francs.
The government ear-marked CHF 7.4bn – but its likely to come in at CHF 6.1bn.
It will still push the budget into the red by CHF 4bn, but that’s a billion less than forecast.
The overestimate is down to fewer companies than expected applying for emergency funds.
