A major report has outlined the cost of covid to the economy.
Commentators says the amounts are staggering.
In all, the four years from 2020 to 2023 cost CHF 35bn. Most of the money was spent in the first two years.
It was mainly spent to compensate for loss of earnings to the cantons.
In comparison, the cost of buying testing equipment and vaccines was just over CHF 5bn.
The report says says nearly a billion francs of covid loans have yet to be paid back.
