The brief cool weather has brought wintery conditions to some of the passes.
It was only a few days ago the heatwave had pushed the zero degree mark up to a new high – above 5,000 meters.
But now it’s back down below 2,000 and motorists are being warned to expect snow on the roads on the high passes – quite heavy snow in some areas.
But it will be short lived.
Temperatures are expected to rise over the next few days and the zero degree mark will move higher once again.
