Eleven people were injured, one seriously, when a confetti cannon exploded during the Bagnes carnival in Le Châble, Valais, on Saturday afternoon.
Police say the blast came from the air compressor of the float’s cannon, though the investigation is ongoing.
Four ambulances, three helicopters, and a rapid response team attended the scene.
Public prosecutors have opened an inquiry. Safety checks on carnival floats are expected to increase for the remaining festivities.
