A car fleeing police in canton Solothurn had a narrow escape when it crashed, flew over the fence of an electricity substation, narrowly missing high voltage power lines.

The chase started in Walterswil on Saturday evening. The police say the car was asked to stop - but the driver didn’t comply.

Initial investigations suggest the car left the road onto a field, hit a bump, and took to the air high enough to clear a 2-meter fence.

The two occupants were injured. The 43 year old driver failed a roadside drugs test and was found not to have a driving licence.
