The foreign minister Ignazio Cassis is currently in China discussing international trade.
Cassis says he hopes the issue of tariffs can be resolved through dialogue with the aim to convince the United States to return to a multinational discussion.
But he was cautious not to favour a side. Cassis points out that the EU, the US and China are the three most important trading partners for Switzerland and one can’t be left out.
He pointed out Switzerland and China have had close diplomatic links for the last 75 years.
