Bern police sealed off the Bundesplatz in front of the Federal Palace yesterday as it welcomed two high level visitors, the Chinese Prime Minister, Li Qiang, and the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The president Viola Amherd met the Chinese delegation in the morning and the Ukrainians in the afternoon.

Amherd says the meeting with the Chinese went well with a substantial and open conversation – and then she says the meeting with Zelenskyy was full of energy and she described him as impressive.

She says talks will begin today on Switzerland hosting a peace summit with the goal to have as many heads of state take part as possible.
