Benefits of French shopping narrow

The benefits of cross border shopping are decreasing as inflation in France and greater competition in Switzerland is leading to a price convergence.

Although there are some specific products which still remain significantly cheaper in France, mainly meat, medicine and books.

Research by the Tribine de Genève and the French speaking Consumer Federation conclude the benefits are narrowing,

France has experienced 20% inflation over the last two years.

The research shows that a Swiss shopper will see little difference from shopping in France compared to a Swiss hard discounter like Lidl or Aldi.
