Are kids exercising too much?

For years we’ve been urging kids go get out more and do more exercise, but a new trend – triggered by social media, means now they may be doing too much.

A report in Tribune de Genève says paediatricians say they’re seeing more young people doing sports intensively either in the gym or on the streets.

Some experts are worried. They say it’s too early to say what the long-term consequences may be – but they point out that too much of anything is never good.

The trend is leading to some Geneva gyms to lower the age or membership from 16 to 15. Harmony gyms says they’ve had a notable rise in young people seeking membership.

The trend seems to be driven by social media as teens look for a sculptured body.
