Police in Fribourg have forced out 269 animal rights activists that had closed a chicken slaughtering house owned by Migros.
The protestors had occupied the building for more than 10 hours. They had chained themselves to equipment.
They’re fighting plans by the retailer to build a new abattoir in Fribourg. The new premises is designed to replace the current operation.
That processes 31 million chickens a year – the new building will have a similar capacity.
