It’s been a particularly wet autumn – and it’s causing problems for many farmers as their land is waterlogged.
Over the last few weeks, the rainfall has been 35% above normal.
But it’s not just autumn forecasters point out the whole year has been exceptionally wet – when compared to the last 25 years. But before that, it could be considered a return to normality.
The Federal Environment Office says aquifers are full and spring and rivers are flowing at the high end of their normal levels.
But there is an increased risk of floods as any further water hasn’t got space to go.
