It doesn’t look like a generalized 30 kph limit will be appearing in Geneva any time soon.
The issue has split the cantonal Grand Council.
The proposal was to bring in the low limit in 294 roads and on an additional 139 during nighttime – in an effort to cut noise pollution.
The transport minister, Pierre Maudet, withdrew his own bill – saying it needs more time in committee.
That will put off another vote on the issue until the next session, at least.
