Zurich could become a major night-travel hub for Europe.
A new study by the city and Zurich Tourism suggests overnight trains and buses could offer a real alternative to flying.
The idea is to use Zurich’s central location to connect travelers to cities up to 1,500 kilometers away, such as Berlin, Vienna, or Barcelona.
The study says people are interested, but the current sleeper options are very limited and can be expensive compared to budget airlines.
To change that, the study proposes much larger night trains, carrying up to 1,500 passengers in one go.
