Work permit quotas remain unchanged

After speculation the government would cut the numbers of work permits for non-EU nationals, it has decided to leave the figure unchanged for next year.

The Federal Council has seemingly backed down following a backlash from cantons and businesses.

The State Secretariat for Migration points out that not all the quotas are used anyway.

A special quota for UK nationals will also continue, unchanged. The government had considered ending the ring-fenced number.
