Work another year to pay for the army

After a survey last week that shows people are strongly against raising VAT to pay for the army - other options are now appearing - including working for another year.

One member of the Council of States, Damien Müller, is suggesting the retirement age should be raised to 66 - for men and women.

His party, the Liberals, have pushed to raise the retirement age before. It has also lobbied for spending cuts instead of raising tax.

The Liberals are also suggesting the government should sell its stakes in Post Finance and Swisscom to pay for defence.
