Water ban in parts of Valais

Val de Bagnes has banned residents from using the irrigation network to water gardens and lawns, as Valais water reserves fall to critical levels

The measure took effect yesterday across the whole commune and covers everyone using the irrigation supply, from farms to private users.

Drinking-water supply is not affected, but authorities say flows can no longer cover both irrigation and livestock watering at the same time.

Weather forecasts show no significant rain in the coming days, and municipal police will now enforce the ban.
