Victim dies, hit and run driver arrested

Type of van sought by police

The pedestrian who was hit by a hit and run driver in Anières in Geneva in early March has died after being treated for several weeks – Geneva police have arrested a driver after an appeal for witnesses.

The 37-year-old woman was walking along the Route d’Hermance at 7am on March 4th. She was struck by a passing van, which failed to stop.

Police called for witnesses in an effort to find the white van, with a broken headlight. The driver, who lives in neighbouring France, was found two days ago. He’s now in police custody.

The 49 year old is being charged with negligent homicide and leaving the scene of an accident.
