Vaud budget for next year announced

Vaud has unveiled a 2027 budget with a deficit of CHF 356 million, despite CHF 65 million in fresh savings

Finance minister Christelle Luisier says spending will rise 3.7% to CHF 13.2 billion, with Ukraine-related costs now nearly doubled to CHF 196 million.

The figures do not factor in the 12% income tax cut going to Vaud voters on 27 September — if accepted, the deficit would widen further.

The government still aims to return to balance by 2030. Debt is expected to rise by around CHF 600 million.
