The sudden and heavy snowfalls in Valais in April will cost the canton millions of francs and work is still underway clearing the damage.
The Forest, Nature and Landscape Service is estimating 140,000 cubic meters of wood has been damaged, that’s the same as the annual harvest.
A combination of volunteers, civil defence members and the army are still working to clear wood from waterways and hiking trails.
It’s thought work will continue until the end of July.
