US blames retail duopoly for difficult trade talks

Washington is turning up the heat on Switzerland in a growing trade dispute - blaming the retail duopoly of Migros and Coop.

A new U.S. report claims strict Swiss organic rules and the dominance of two major retailers are blocking American products.

While not named directly, Coop and Migros are clearly in their minds.

The move comes as trade talks reach a critical phase, with the U.S. pushing for greater access for its agricultural exports.

But Bern remains firm on protecting farmers and food standards.
