Two young drivers create havoc

Crashed BMW (c) Kapo AG

Two young Italian men caused havoc on Swiss roads over the weekend.

In a rented BMW M8 the 24-year-old driver was caught on Sunday in a speed trap at 148 kph where the limit was 80. Police took his licence away on the spot and referred him to prosecutors.

His friend, 22 years old, then took the wheel and two hours later crashed the car. It skidded off the road, hit a tree and flipped over. He and a 19-year-old passenger escaped with only minor injuries.

He also lost his licence on the spot and will face charges. The car is said to be a write-off.
