A case of alleged abuse is shaking the city of Biel.
Two Catholic priests have been accused of sexually abusing an adult, according to the SonntagsZeitung.
The complaint was filed in November by the Bishop of Basel, Felix Gmür, but the men were only suspended in March, after initial hearings by prosecutors.
Church authorities say they were required to wait before taking action and limited public communication at the request of officials.
The delay has drawn criticism from victims’ rights groups, who warn it may discourage reporting and call for faster, more transparent procedures nationwide.
