The poison information line could close as it’s lacking a million francs to keep it going.
Known as Tox Info – it can get as many as 20 calls an hour. It's open 24 hours a day and staffed by experts who will give advice – or reassurance – if someone has eaten something they may shouldn’t have.
The line can also help pet owners.
It’s not just members of the public that use it. Sometimes it's doctors treating a patient, looking for expert help.
But the money is running out – it needs an extra million. It’s mainly financed by donations, although it does get a federal grant of half a million francs.
