The massive volcanic eruption which triggered tsunamis and devastated the island nation of Tonga was detectable in Switzerland.
The Swiss weather service MeteoNews says its monitoring stations across the country picked up a pressure shock-wave at the same time of the explosion.
The forecasters Tweeted the findings show the eruption was big enough to affect the entire planet.
It sent a plume of gas and steam 20 km into the air and caused a tsunami which hit the main island.
