Two teenagers in Ticino have been arrested after stealing two service weapons from the police and firing them into a wall.

The cantonal force was holding an exercise in a closed hotel in the town of Paradiso.

The police say around 10 people – all under 18 – entered the building a and two loaded police pistols were taken.

The two arrested teens are said to have taken the guns, fired them into a wall and then threw the weapons into Lake Lugano.

Prosecutors are investigating the case involving the teens – the police are investigating their own security measures.
