Emergency measures to protect the River Drize in Geneva seem to have paid off.
The summer heat wave reduced the water level to such an extent, tap water was pumped into the river for two months to help the wildlife.
The cantonal Lake Service says there’s plenty of fish in the main part of the river, although some of the tributaries are empty. It’s thought that could be due to pollution.
