Switzerland’s oldest hotel and restaurant is up for sale.
The Bären Inn in the Emmental is on the market for CHF 1.5m. The current owner, who’s been running it for over 30 years, wants to retire.
It has a 100 seat restaurant, hotel rooms, a bowling alley and a terrace.
Documents can show an inn has been operating on the land since the year 1356 - the current building dates from 1775.
But it’s not the oldest in the world - that honor goes to a hot spring hotel in Japan. It’s been run continuously by the same family for the past 1,300 years.
