Switzerland will never allow Russian or Chinese jab

Despite the problems of getting vaccines to people due to bottlenecks, there’s no chance Switzerland will authorize vaccines from Russia or China.

The regulator Swissmedic says the law doesn’t allow them to consider drugs from companies that do not have a base in Switzerland.

Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Moderna and Johnson and Johnson all have Swiss based companies.

Russia has put forward its Sputnik V vaccine for regulatory clearance in the EU. It’s already being used in Hungary.

Swiss virologist Andreas Cerny says the Russian vaccine is not bad – it works in a similar way as the AstraZeneca jab – and the Chinese option also works, but may not be as potent as the western made drugs.
