Switzerland through to next round!

Switzerland has reached the last 16 of the World Cup after beating Algeria 2-0 in Vancouver — the team's first knockout-stage win at a World Cup since 1954.

Breel Embolo opened the scoring in the tenth minute and Dan Ndoye added a second right after half-time, in what coach Murat Yakin's side turned into their most complete performance of the tournament.

Twenty-year-old Geneva midfielder Johan Manzambi has emerged as the revelation of Switzerland's campaign, setting up the opener with a driving run through the Algerian defence.

The Nati now stays in Vancouver for another five days before facing the winner of Colombia against Ghana on Tuesday night at 22:00 Swiss time.
